The Academy has enhanced its recruitment with the creation of the ‘Development Centre’ for players aged 7-16.
Following recent discussions, Oldham Athletic is delighted to announce the launch of the Oldham Athletic Development Centre. Trials will begin as soon as possible for the intake season of 2020/21.
The Development Centre will act as a direct pathway to the actual Oldham Athletic Academy, providing academy standard coaches and games at regional and national level.
Acting as an expansion of the already successful academy programme, it will provide high-quality training and competitive games to support the improvement of players across the local region.
Trials for the Development Centre will not begin until that advice from the UK Government and The FA allows for the resumption of sports activities in full. However, for players and parents who are interested of being informed of when trials do start you can sign up to the ‘request a trial’ portal via the Development Centre website: http://www.oldhamafcdc.co.uk/request-trial/
Please note, this is a part-parent funded and not-for-profit programme.
Development Centre Head Coach, James Caldwell, has set out the targets for the new setup; “Our aims at the Development Centre is to develop players who are maybe on the right path towards either academy or professional football but need that additional coaching or support to bridge that gap.
“We aim to create modern footballers who are both technically and tactically astute, whilst also promoting the great social and psychological attributes that will support them in a lifelong enjoyment of sport.”
Academy Manager Paul Murray, also outlined his excitement for the Development Centre; “Oldham Athletic Academy is delighted with the new partnership we have managed to create. This will enable us widen our search for talented players to come into the setup at Boundary Park, with the main aim of giving more players the chance to represent the club at first team level.
“I know with James the Development Centre will become a very professional and fruitful partnership and we look forward to seeing future talent fluorish in Oldham.”
